Executive Master Management & Law
An executive education course of Management & Law at the University of St.Gallen will benefit you in many ways: you will be able to tailor our newly structured course individually to precisely match your current situation in life and your personal requirements – in terms of time, content and conclusion. This means that you can start at any time, continually extend your executive education, also interrupt it, devote yourself to a different topic and try out something else. And now you will also have the option of having executive education units provided by other HSG institutes credited to your programme. You will be comfortably able to extend your collected executive education units up to the degree of Master Management & Law (EM ML-HSG) – a genuine novelty. According to the principle of lifelong learning.

Q&A zum Executive Master
Management & Law (EM ML-HSG)
An academic first degree (at least a Bachelor’s) from a recognized university or university of applied sciences is mandatory. You can find the list of institutions here: Accredited Swiss Universities – swissuniversities. Please note that so-called “sur dossier” admissions are not possible.
If you are unsure or have a different degree from Switzerland or abroad, please send us a copy of your highest degree certificate by email to info.lam@unisg.ch. We will be happy to review your eligibility.
The Executive Master Management & Law (EM ML-HSG) (60 ECTS) currently consists of the following parts: four Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS, 10 ECTS each), one one-week module, coaching (3h), and the Master’s thesis (15 ECTS). Each CAS consists of at least three one-week modules. A Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS, 30 ECTS) can be obtained from three CAS.
The Master’s level builds on the first part, which consists of three CAS or one DAS (i.e., three CAS). The Master’s level currently includes the following: one CAS (at least 3 course weeks), one one-week module, coaching (3h), and the Master’s thesis.
Our module weeks start on Mondays at 09:30 a.m., and from Tuesday to Friday at 08:30 a.m. From Monday to Thursday, sessions end at 6:00 p.m., and on Fridays at around 4:30 p.m.
To promote networking among participants, we organise a social event with catering on one evening.
The module concludes with an assessment in the form of an exam or group work.
Qualifications that are not from the University of St.Gallen cannot be credited. However, selected CAS or DAS programs from other HSG institutes, if fully and successfully completed, can be credited. The list of currently creditable programs can be found on our website. The number of credits is limited.
Credit is awarded at a flat rate of 10 ECTS (CAS) or 30 ECTS (DAS), regardless of the length or tuition paid — no partial ECTS credits are granted. If your HSG qualification is not listed, please contact the relevant institute for more information. If your CAS or DAS includes a diploma thesis, it may not automatically count as a Master’s thesis. If it does, it will only be credited proportionally, and any missing ECTS points must be made up with other programs.
Here you will find all the courses currently available for the Executive Master. This list is subject to change: Executive Master ML-HSG – LAM.
- For a DAS program in Law & Management at the Executive School: max. 1 CAS (credited at a flat rate of 10 ECTS)
- For the Executive Master Management & Law HSG: max. 3 CAS or 1 DAS (credited at a flat rate of 30 ECTS)
All other courses must be taken from the Law & Management offerings of the Executive School. You can find them here: All modules LAM.
All qualifications from the Law & Management area of the Executive School are credited toward the DAS Law & Management (DAS LM-HSG) and the Executive Master Management & Law (EM ML-HSG).
No, programs and degrees from other educational institutions outside HSG are not credited.
You can select your modules individually from the Law & Management offering at the Executive School. Thanks to the consistently modular concept, the program is flexible in terms of content, scope, and timing. This means you can start with any one-week module at any time and also pause your studies if needed.
Here you can find all our individual modules, which you can combine as you wish: Individual Modules – LAM.
Please note the following two restrictions:
- The WRM-HSG program is reserved exclusively for non-lawyers, and the MLP-HSG program is reserved exclusively for lawyers.
- Individual modules from the Negotiation (CGN) program can be booked. However, due to limited capacity, priority will be given to participants taking the full CAS program. Those interested in individual modules may be placed on a waiting list in case of last-minute cancellations.
Please submit the completed Executive Master ML-HSG-LAM application form, your CV, and your degree certificate for your academic first degree including transcript of records. After reviewing your documents, we will inform you promptly about your admission status.
If you have a creditable qualification from another HSG institute, please include a copy of your certificate with your application.
