Legal departments at large corporates are required to provide staff at all levels with advice on legal matters arising in the areas of both strategy and operations. At the same time, legal departments play a crucial role in corporate governance. They perform a quasi-supervisory function and are often called on to intervene decisively in business processes. A legal department is only able to fulfil both of these functions if its lawyers have a good understanding of how the business works. In a three-day seminar, participants examined and discussed key aspects of business administration with regard to strategy, business model design, leadership and risk management with the aim of bringing the legal department closer to the company’s business functions.
